General Vehicle Glass Questions

Quick answers before you request a quote.

What areas do Premier Windscreens cover?
We mainly cover Edinburgh (EH), Fife (KY), the Scottish Borders (TD), Dundee (DD) and Perthshire (PH), with limited coverage in some FK postcode areas. Customers outside these areas can still request a quote, although work may be carried out from our Edinburgh depot.
Do you offer a mobile vehicle glass service?
Yes. Where suitable, we can attend your home, workplace or business address for windscreen replacement, windscreen repair, side window replacement and rear glass replacement.
What information do you need for a quote?
The fastest way to get a quote is to send your vehicle registration, postcode, the type of glass damaged, and photos if available. This helps us identify the correct glass and confirm availability.
Can I send photos of the damage?
Yes. Photos are very helpful, especially for stone chips, side glass, rear glass, van windows and unusual damage. You can upload photos through our email quote form or send them by WhatsApp.
Do you work on cars, vans and commercial vehicles?
Yes. We provide vehicle glass services for private cars, vans, light commercial vehicles, trade customers and selected fleet work.

Windscreen Replacement FAQs

How much does windscreen replacement cost?
The cost depends on the vehicle, glass type, sensors, heating elements and whether ADAS calibration is required. Send your registration and postcode for an accurate quote.
How long does windscreen replacement take?
Most windscreen replacements take around 1–2 hours, depending on the vehicle and any additional requirements.
Can you replace my windscreen at work?
Yes, mobile fitting may be available at your home, workplace or business address across our main service areas.
Do I need ADAS calibration after windscreen replacement?
If your vehicle has a forward-facing camera or driver assistance systems connected to the windscreen, calibration may be required after replacement.

Windscreen Repair FAQs

Can every windscreen chip be repaired?
No. Repair depends on the size, depth, location and condition of the chip. If the damage is too large, in a critical vision area or has spread into a crack, replacement may be required.
Will a chip repair be invisible?
A repair is mainly designed to restore strength and reduce the chance of the damage spreading. A small mark may still remain after repair.
Should I repair a stone chip quickly?
Yes. Chips can spread due to vibration, cold weather or sudden temperature changes, so it is best to deal with them early.

Side & Rear Window FAQs

Can you replace smashed side windows?
Yes. We can quote for door glass, quarter glass and other side window replacement where glass is available for your vehicle.
Can you replace heated rear windows?
Yes. We can quote for heated rear screens and tailgate glass, including many cars, vans and light commercial vehicles.
What should I do after a break-in?
If your side or rear glass has been smashed, avoid driving if the vehicle is unsafe. Send photos, your registration and postcode so we can quote for the correct glass.
